Dean Henderson Not a save to make before the break but then forced to intervene from an opponent's curling effort. A sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent reading of the game. 6/10

John Stones Moved forward with the ball at his feet, as he has done previously. At times was too casual in possession and the experiment was shelved at half-time. Six

The tall defender A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, per usual, perhaps is an alternative to Stones in defense as opposed to his partner. A careless distribution later in the match almost led to a goal from the visitors. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly Another assured showing by the 20-year-old following his first cap against Serbia. A teammate failed to make the opportunity from a gorgeous flick over the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure at this stage. Seven

The newcomer His first start in an England shirt. Somewhat loose when playing out though his dangerous deliveries were a threat. A useful pace-controller for the coach to have against defensive opponents. Booked for a poorly timed foul. Six

Declan Rice Set-pieces on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Was given license to drift down the left flank but was in an offside position as the pass came in front of goal. Given a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Operated in a forward spot down the right and also put in the hard yards. Displayed moments of class but scuffed an attempt wide. Replaced late on by a teammate, his rival, after being booked. 7

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his strike excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to offer an outlet down the right side although his balls into the box were hit and miss. Substituted with 15 to go. Six

Harry Kane The match-winner netting 77th and 78th strikes at international level. The opener a classic opportunist's goal and his next a superb header following a clever run from his marker. Aged 32, he’s only getting better and the side have every chance next summer when he's in the team. 8

The attacker Found it tough to make an impact out wide. Had a decent opportunity when set up by Bellingham however the keeper denied him. Rashford made much more of an impact after coming on. 5
